Wearing the Sachin and Babi Brooke Gown in a 22.
I went to a beautiful NYC wedding last weekend and wanted to share my look and guide for wedding dressing. To me, it is all about these three things:
Is it comfortable? I stopped wearing Spanx about 7 years ago and have never looked back. It wasnt worth it to me to feel that uncomfortable, but no judgies if you are into shape wear! Both of the dresses I tried on for this wedding were comfortable, but only one of them had pockets…
Is it “me”? If you don’t go to a ton of fancy events then your “dress up” dresses might be a little disconnected from your personal style. We already know you arent wearing white, but that is really the only guideline you need to follow when buying a dress. You should find something that sparks joy! That makes you feel special! If you dont dress up often, why not make it a fun moment to wear something you love! If you are not in the wedding, I don’t think people really look at what you are wearing so closely as long as you look fabulous!
This is more of a purchasing tip than anything, but I find when I have to buy a formal dress with a deadline, I can never find anything I love. So when you see something-BUY something! If you see a dress you love, get it. Put it in your closet and that event will roll around eventually and you will know exactly what you are wearing!!
This one was another contender, link here! Wearing a 22.
Here are a couple more wedding guest/party looks I am loving right now:
The Sequin Jem Dress by Never Fully Dressed
Dazzling! This dress is stretchy so it’s super comfy but feels expensive. The lining ensures that it’s not scratchy.
Empire-Waist Midi Dress in Floral Cotton Poplin by J.Crew
J.Crew is always a go-to for me- they make the easiest dresses.
BTW, I have a size 12 foot, so finding fancy footwear can be a bit tough. Here are some of my favorite brands that make extended footwear sizing:
I love Stuart Weitzman for a luxury shoes that comes in Wide. Lots of low heels so I’m comfy! The detailing on the Wovette style is great.
Margaux goes up to 45. They make wides. Also an elevated price point but The City Sandal is one of the most comfy I’ve ever worn!
Naturalizer has great wide options at a friendlier price point! My fav is the Vera.
In terms of bags, I am a sucker for a statement. How good is this Lele Sadoughi Pearl Drippy Beaded Bag?
If you’re looking for a look for a summer wedding, let’s help each other out in the Lobby!
