When my mom turned 75 two years ago, I told her I would take her anywhere she wanted to go in the world. She ended up getting a cancer diagnosis (her 4th) and we had to postpone the trip until she was healthy.

I’ve talked before about my love for The Sisters. If you don’t know, my Mom is one of four sisters and they all have similar hair cuts and its all very sweet.

So when we felt the time was right, we decided to take a fabulous trip to Morocco, and I wanted my mom to have a travel buddy. Aunt Barb was in a car accident 6 months ago THAT BROKE HER NECK, but she was ready to try and see what she was capable of. Queen, much?

So we headed out to North Africa with a 78 year old and an 80 year old and two giant babies in their 40s (me and John, duh).

We decided to tack on a few days in Paris because my Mom was a French teacher who took her high school classes on trips every year and I was probably jealous. Also, what a nightmare! Wrangling teens who are trying to sneak off to get tattoos or smoke cigarettes. What a saint. I wanted to experience Paris through her eyes.

Sharing my three takeaways from this trip and why I think you should consider traveling with your older people…
