On March 27, 2024 I wrote my first Substack post, with the groundbreaking title Welcome to Lobby Coffee. Lol!
Since then, I have been overjoyed at the community we have created here, and wanted to take a minute to reflect.
But first of all, THANK YOU. Thank you for being here, for commenting, for being in the chat, for encouraging, sharing and relating to everyone else who is here. And thanks for putting up with me as I navigate how to show up…though this may not be my most consistent effort (see recent post), everything comes from my heart.
Here are some of the top moments from my POV.
Getting Personal
The most viewed essay I wrote this year was about my decision not to have kids. I’m glad this resonated with so many of you. Should I dive into this topic again? Let me know.
Meeting Oprah last Spring was a hugeeeeee moment for me. And the hate mail I received right after was something else. This was a toughie to write.
Sharing the news about Sunny Side Up! I’ve dealt with imposter syndrome a lot, so this made it all feel really official. Ahh, it’s happening soon!
My essay about IUDs was something I had in my head for so long. Over 45 of you commented and it was incredible to read everyone’s experiences and how we all agree that THIS. IS. NOT. NORMAL.
Um…you guys really love Mr. Sturino. This post “performed very well” as they say in the biz…just don’t tell John, I don’t want him to get an ego.
It was special for me to reflect on traveling with my elders. I can’t stress enough how much I recommend this.
I had to talk about Eras…but actually this one was more about anxiety and taking risks.
Body Talk: The Course
We tested something out here that I have always wanted to do: Body Talk: The Course! This was an amazing group of people who re-read Body Talk and met on Zoom to discuss. It was INCREDIBLE to see you all show up, talk to you 1:1 and unite in this way. I want to do something like this again soon. Maybe for Sunny?
Style
We covered so much! From an inclusive shopping guide to NYC to work bags, gift guides, denim and more, we hit all the pressing style conundrums! I also loved this one on the state of plus-size fashion.
Travel Guides!
This is something I love to work on and makes me feel like I work at goop. This year I wrote about Hawaii, Morocco, Tokyo and Italy.
Pop Culture
Ok I think you all know by now I am always reading, watching, and doing. I loved writing about my love for international TV, and doing my Katie’s Kontent Pop Culture Pop Ups. I have fun with these!
Megababe
This was also a BIG year for Megababe. I love that I can go deeper here than on IG and talk about launches, like our deodorants, the Butt Stuff big reveal and of course #CHAFESZN.
I hope this helps in case you missed any posts along the way. Through my content I have always wanted to create a safe corner of the Internet where we can all relate and find a sense of community. I’d love to hear from you what you’d want to see from me here this year!
Thank you again for all of your support.
xo
Katie
Freaking stoked to be one year in and cant wait to be two in. Id totally join the book klerb and do another virtual with this group. I still pull confidence from those meetings when I need it. And community. I pull lots of community comfort from those too. It’s like it was all a huge hug of we’re right there with each other.
Your honesty in traveling and the weird feelings that can come with it helped me travel (London, Paris, Rome) just this past month.
Your gift of response after me sharing an insecurity (linebacker shoulders) being called out (theyre like a 4th grade boy) is truly the scaffolding that holds my chin a little higher. More of everything, please. But only what you can comfortably give. And, THANK YOU.
Congrats on a year Katie!! I love having you on this platform. <3
